If nautical nonsense be something you wish - so happy!

I am seriously giddy with joy right now after a YEAR I have finally been able to track down and buy this Topshop blazer I saw in a magazine about a year ago!
Right after I saw it I realized "I must have this blazer...oh yes...it will be mine." I looked online and it was sold out, I couldn't seem to find it anywhere. It would only occasionally pop up on ebay right when I couldn't afford it! This happened like 4 times over the course of a year, WTF! But I finally found it when I had enough money for it so yay!

And the best part is that this is gonna work with a lot of nautical/navy/marine looks which, judging from recent issues of some of my favorite magazines, is very much "in" this spring, I love this look! That reminds me, I should get cracking on some nautical themed nails soon haha.

Some of my favorite looks from Ranzuki's Navy Casual spread this month :D
But anywho I am on cloud nine that I finally got my blazer ah :)

Barbie Gal

Recently I bought this Barbie shirt that reads "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful".
This is seriously one of the most funny/narcissistic tee shirts I've ever bought. It's mainly funny because people take it so seriously. They either agree with the shirt and compliment me or think that I think I'm all that and a bag of potato chips and give me dirty looks XD Since when is it a crime to think you are beautiful? I think everyone has a right to think themselves beautiful every now and then! The shirt doesn't state that I think I am any more beautiful than anyone else so what's with the dirty looks?

I do feel a little silly wearing it just because I don't normally have that "ere about me" that I think I'm better looking than the average girl, but it's just a cute shirt that I liked. And one that I think inspires a very tongue-in-cheek confidence that every girl could use once in a while.

A very pink outfit that I tried to keep casual but gal at the same time:

OOTD
Also I've been trying to add more color into in my makeup since spring is here :D
I really do wish I could tell you why I've been looking like such a derpy sad puppy lately. There is no reason for it other than perhaps I am a derpy sad puppy.

Oh well...

Nana Suzuki Inspired Failure

Such a frustrating day I couldn't find ANY of the makeup I wanted use, seriously spring cleaning is just what I need. Originally this look was supposed to be Nana Suzuki inspired but then I couldn't find my right lashes and it just went downhill from there, as you can see. Nana? Not so much...  My bangs in the first one one make it look like I did a droopy panda eye but I swear I didn't! XD or maybe I did, I couldn't find my good frickin' eye liner!
 Let the derpiness begin!
Why do I always feel the need to be doing something with my hands? : /

Outfit pic for some reason:
OOTD
I thought I'd be able to start wearing skirts again soon because it was warming up, but then it rained and BAM it's cold again :( still not so bad with boots and jacket though :D I don't know why I always try to take outfit shots at night since the light in front of the mirror is so awful and I can't use flash in the mirror. Next time daylight!

My hearts and sparkles nails.
Since I got all my new nail deco supplies I've been wanting to be more creative with my nails. So I hope these are better than the boring ones I had before -_-

A Keen Doodad

I have been looking around forever for a contact lens extractor (good for people with long nails who wear contacts) and came across the DMV Soft Lens Handler, I got mine from on Amazon for about 6 USD. I didn't realize there were other places you could buy them and pick out a different color(such as purple) like here. Purple is the best color ever and now I'm stuck with blue because of my inability to shop around haha XD
To some people this maybe a stupid invention because some people are blessed with the ability to remove their lenses no matter what the situation. I haven't ripped any of my lenses yet but it's something that I've been kinda paranoid and maybe overly careful about. If you've ripped even one lens trying to take them out this is a sound investment(not an investment, really it's only 6 bucks!). It's made of a foam material so it's not like your putting some hard plastic in your eye.

One end has a slope and is for insertion. The other end has a tweezer-like gripper for extraction.
The instructions are pretty straight forward.
But here are some pictures from their website illustrating how to use it.
I don't use it for putting my lenses in because I've really had no problems whatsoever with that. The first time I used it I was so scared, the same kind of scared you are the first time you put in lenses. I tried plucking it out using the corners of the tweezers but it wasn't very effective and only resulted in me smearing my make up on it.
It works best when it's fully pressed against your lens and you just pinch it shut and the lens comes right out but I still have trouble getting over the fear of sticking it straight into my eye XD I'm getting better though, the less scared you are to place it flat over the lenses the easier it is.

Inspired by:Sakurina/Glad News

Well I thought I'd try out a more rocker look today reminiscent of Sakurina's work for Glad News from a while back.
Using the above image for hair inspiration and the below image for make up inspiration.
I came out like this...
Completed Rina Sakurai/ Sakurina inspired makeup and hair.
It came out kind of lame because I don't have false lower lashes (yet) but I tried!

The struggle to get a decent outfit shot XD
Oh yeah and I majorly suck at taking outfit shots XD I feel okay about the overall look I guess, I just really wish I could have gotten my hair bigger >:O I'm working on it! It was admittedly a bad day for pictures, the lighting was crap and I couldn't get a  good one of my nails either which was okay since they were not so great.

St. Moriz-Dark Tan

So I've been looking for a tanner to make me look less corpse like lately. I have been VERY pale since I was 15 which is a shame because I did tan beautifully as a child haha XD I've managed to avoid the sun for quite some time but I miss my tan.

A prime example of how pale I really am, no contouring,no bronzer, daylight.

However cancer does run in my family so why tempt fate by over roasting in the sun? I looked through lots of tanners over the years without ever actually buying any (yes this is my first self tanning experience outside of Jergens Natural Glow Lotion ). So I found St.Moriz (yeah that's the right way to spell it XD)tanner online, which is like a cost effective dupe for St.Tropez tanner, which is many people's holy grail of faux tanners. For the longest time I couldn't decide if I wanted to buy it or not, then they came out with a dark version that people say is like having two layers of the original on. It sounded like a good deal as a 4oz bottle averages at £4.99 (about 10.50 USD)so I looked for a place to buy it in the US since it's from the UK. People can apparently find it at TJ Maxx here but of course I don't have one of those in my town. I found it for cheap at an online store based in the UK but with shipping it was cheaper to get it from a seller off ebay (*myplanet*)that also sells it in lots or 6.45 USD per bottle (plus S&H) :D So I bought a few bottles and a tanning mitt (mitt from another seller).

I was a little disappointed when I got the mitt because I thought it would be dark on both sides...but it's not...I hate seeing the nasty stain on the mitt every time I look at it, but I digress.
I bought the mousse version, no reason for me choosing the mousse over the spray...I just did. Now, where I noticed in reviews I saw of the original, that version is more olive based and has green in it to give you a nice olive glow where this one has a red base to make you actually tan/brown.

I struggled to get a good before pic of my arm since it was night time. So here's my arm before with and without flash.
Before:
And here it is right after application with and without flash.

During:
It needs a few hours to fully develop...so I just went to bed. Another plus is that this doesn't seem to stain clothes or bedding with one layer so that's not a problem unless maybe you sweat in your sleep. This stuff gets DARK while the color is developing so I would recommend doing this before you go to bed and then shower in the morning rather than doing this at the beginning of the day and going out while it develops.

This is the color I woke up with, and these pictures were much better since it was daylight.
After:
Pretty nice color for one layer considering before my arm was the same color as the wall! BUT you do lose about 30% of this color after you shower.

After shower:

Showering may lighten it but it does get rid of any unevenness that may have occurred during application, and since this was my first self tan...there was some unevenness that was worrying me.

During the application I did notice a smell, it's flowery but not perfume-like more like a scented lotion or face cream...if that makes any sense. But after a while you do get the telltale tanner smell. It's gone after the shower, obviously. Your clothes will still hold the smell until you wash them though.

On another note after the color developed, my knees and elbow were a bit darker than the rest of me. I followed the directions to a tee and moisturized all my joints before application and I don't even have particularly dry joints...at all really. So if you do be very careful and use a heavy moisturizer on those areas.

Two Coats:
One problem I have with this tanner is the way it smudges when you try to build it up. (This might be because of the mitt)The second time I used it I wanted to see how two layers turns out so applied one, waited for it to dry applied another waited for it dry and got dressed. It takes a while for the second layer to dry but I suppose that only makes sense. Even though it was dry, hours after I applied  I accidentally splashed water on my arm and there was a mark on my arm the next day even though it was supposed to be dry. I guess it's easy to re-wet. I didn't have this issue with one layer though.

Two coats after I woke up before shower:(There is some shadowing on my arm since this is in natural light and my camera was kind of in the way)
After shower:

After a couple of days (just woke up you can still see my bedding marks on my arm XD), little fading. So maybe I could get away with applying just once a week.

Overall, it's pretty good, given I don't have anything to compare it to but it breaks down like this.
Pros:
Good price
Good color
Fairly easy to apply on the first coat
Little fading/splotching between third day applications
Inoffensive smell during application
Little/no fabric staining (once applied)
Cons:
Trouble controlling evenness when attempting to build/layer
Even with moisturizer there is some color gathering at the joints(elbows and knees mostly)
Two coats is very easy to re-wet and cause streaking/unevenness

So since there is only trouble with this tanner's ability to build I will continue to buy/use this stuff throughout the summer this year. Hopefully I can get a nice base tan to apply this over so I can stick with using one coat and not be in the sun too much. I don't wanna be super tan but something in the range of Tsubasa's old coloring from some years back would be nice:D I loved old tan Tsubasa :(

Vintage Hair

^End result of my first time doing pin curls with rolling pins instead of bobby pins. These work soooo much better.
But I didn't really have a setting pattern in mind so I just did two rows of standing pin curls on the right side and rolled the rest back.
Root lifter from Sallys gave pretty good volume too for air drying.

I also want to try some styles from my new book. Really good nonconfusing instructions :D See how many stares I get for doing victory rolls!

I also had some lame strawberry nails to go with this look. Now I know why people always dot them with white dots, black ones make them look like ladybugs.
